MIKEY WILLIAMS IS STRONG
Two-time PBA Finals MVP Mikey Williams is set to bring his sharpshooting and playmaking skills to Strong Group Athletics as they gear up for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship, slated from January 24 to February 2, 2025.
The 33-year-old combo guard, who hails from Los Angeles, California, touched down in the Philippines on Tuesday. This move reunites Williams with Strong Group head coach Charles Tiu. The two previously found success with Mighty Sports, securing the championship at the 2019 William Jones Cup and the 2020 Dubai Basketball Championship.
“I’m excited to be working with him again,” said Tiu. “I was quite close to him before. We won two championships together, and hopefully, we can win another one.”
Williams will bolster an already stacked roster that includes Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, Jason Brickman, Angelo Kouame, Andray Blatche, NCAA MVP Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez.
Adding firepower to the lineup are imports Demarcus Cousins, Malachi Richardson, and Terry Larrier.
Last year, Strong Group fell to Al-Riyadi in the Final.
